The aim of our research is to find the best bookmaker for MMA odds, along with the best bookmaker for MMA betting in general.
The data we’ve gathered focuses on two of the biggest MMA events of the year – the UFC 239 fights between Jon Jones and Thiago Santos, and Amanda Nunes against Holly Holm.
For our review, we examined 25 of the top bookmakers operating online in the United Kingdom. Which bookies made our list? Take a look at the table below.
With the exception of Titanbet, every bookmaker we’ve listed above offer some form of MMA betting. A small number also offer in-play betting opportunities, MMA promotions and live streaming. We’ll elaborate on this a little later.
Firstly, we’ll take a more detailed look at our findings in our quest to find the best bookmaker for MMA betting.
From our analysis of our research into the best bookmakers for MMA betting guide, we’ve established which bookies make it into our top five. These are listed below, we’ll examine which aspects they excel at shortly.
Our research shows it’s SkyBet that take our number one spot. SkyBet outscored second place Betsafe by a considerable amount. In third place is Marathonbet, followed by bet365.
In joint-fifth place come 888sport and Unibet. In truth, our research shows that there is very little between these two bookmakers and bet365, one of the most popular bookmakers worldwide.
We’ll concentrate on our top three best bookmakers for MMA betting: SkyBet, Betsafe and Marathonbet.
Let’s start with our number one, SkyBet. SkyBet offered a good range of markets on each fight we used in our research. 19 markets were offered on each fight, with competitive prices meaning SkyBet are also one of the best bookmakers for MMA odds.
SkyBet didn’t provide any Statistics facilities or live streaming. However, there were a number of live betting markets available. SkyBet were also one of the few bookies we analysed that offered UFC and MMA-specific promotions.
Onto second place, and Betsafe. If you’re new to our bookmaker comparison pages, you might be surprised to see Betsafe so high up our lists. Regular readers will know, however, that this operator makes regular appearances in our top five lists.
So, what makes Betsafe one of the best bookmakers for MMA betting? Well, they feature in our top three for lowest bookmaker margins for both Jones v Santos and Nunes v Holm. In addition, Betsafe cover most major MMA betting markets, along with a number of live betting options.
In third place is Marathonbet. Now, Marathonbet don’t offer as many different markets as many others included in our research. Instead, this operator excels in other areas, including challenging to be the best bookmaker for MMA odds.
Odds here are extremely competitive. Marathonbet compliment this by offering a Statistics service as well as in-play betting.
Bet365, 888sport and Unibet, the rest of our top five, also offer an array of in-play markets.
Average Number Of Markets Covered
Another important aspect of betting on MMA is to find a bookmaker that offers a good range of markets. Our research shows that the following bookmakers offer the highest number of MMA markets.
Two giants in UK online betting come joint-first in this list. Betfair and Paddy Power, who merged in 2016 and are now under the umbrella of Flutter Entertainment, both offered an equal number of markets for both Jones v Santos and Nunes against Holm.
There were 24 markets available on Jones against Santos. For Nunes v Holm, bettors could take their choice from 22 markets, for an average of 23. For Jones v Santos, the list of markets available consisted of the following:
- Fight Result
- Method of Victory
- Method & Round Combo
- Round Betting
- What Round will Fight End
- Double Chance
- How Fight will End
- Will the Fight go the Distance
- Alternative Method & Round Combo

- Alternative When Will The Fight End

- Fight To Start Round 3
- Fight To Start Round 4
- Fight To Start Round 5
- Outcome of 1st Round
- Outcome of 2nd Round
- Outcome of 3rd Round
- Outcome of 4th Round
- Outcome of 5th Round
All markets listed above were also available for Nunes against Holm, except for Finishing Time and Finishing Time 2.
SkyBet have come out on top in our general observations, and they do well specifically in this category too. This operator offered an average of 19 markets on both fights. In third place is Betfred, making their first appearance on our MMA lists, with an average of 12 betting markets.
Lowest Bookmaker Margin
In sports betting, bookmaker margins are important to consider. We’ve assessed the margins of each operator we researched, in order to develop a top three.
From our data, we can see that the following bookmakers offered the lowest margins for the UFC 239 fights between Jon Jones and Thiago Santos, and Amanda Nunes v Holly Holm.
For Jones against Santos, these bookies offered the lowest bookmaker margins. This is specific to the ‘To Win Fight’ market.
- 1. Matchbook
- 2. bet365
- 3. Betsafe
For Matchbook, the bookmaker margin was 2.87%. Bet365 comes in second place with 3.90%, with Betsafe at 4.34%.
Onto Nunes against Holm. Again, the statistics below relate to the ‘To Win Fight’ market.
- 1. SkyBet
- 2. Betsafe
- 3. Genting Bet
Our overall winners SkyBet also come in number one place here. Their bookmaker margin was set at 2.62%. Betsafe, the only operator to make an appearance on both of our lowest bookmaker margins list, offered 4.44%. Genting Bet come in third at 4.45%.
What else did we look for in our quest to find the best bookmaker for MMA betting? There were a number of other aspects we considered, starting with the offering of a Statistics service.
If you’re new to betting on MMA, having easy access to previous results and fighter details can help you make the right choices when you place your wagers. However, only a small number of bookmakers offered a Statistics function. We found MMA stats available at Marathonbet, William Hill and NetBet.
888sport and Unibet both state they will introduce an MMA stats service shortly, to compliment Statistics offered on other sports.
Onto live streaming. Now, live streaming is a great option to have for you sports betting. For MMA, though, we couldn’t find any bookmaker that offered streaming on Jones v Santos and Nunes v Holm, nor on any fight taking place in UFC 239.
This is, more than likely, due to UFC 239, and the specific fights we’ve mentioned, only being available on a Pay Per View. It’s difficult for any online bookie to offer live streaming on these types of fights. We could in the future, though, expect MMA live streaming to be available on selected fights on the undercard.
A number of bookmakers featured in this article offered live betting opportunities. The range of markets varied, but if you’re interested in betting on MMA in-play, this is available at the following bookies.
- William Hill
- Energy Bet
- Bet At Home
Promotions can enhance your profit margins, as well as give you risk-free betting opportunities. It’s a good idea to check out your individual bookmaker’s Promotions tab before you start betting, no matter which sport interests you.
There were a number of bookies who offered specific promotions on MMA, in particular UFC 239. We were most impressed with the offers from BetVictor. At BetVictor, new customers could take advantage of Enhanced Odds offers on both the Jones-Santos and Nunes-Holm fights. Additionally, BetVictor also offered a series of Price Boosts.
SkyBet also offered a good range of MMA promotions. Enhanced ACCA’s and Price Boosts were available on each featured fight, as well as Price Boosts on other fights taking place on the card.
Other bookmakers who offered UFC and MMA-specific promotions include William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral, Paddy Power, BetVictor and Boylesports.
It’s important to note, though, that the majority of these promotions were not available until the day of the fight. Most promos were not available in the days leading up to the event. If you like to plan your betting in advance, keep this in mind.
We can see that a number of operators take MMA betting seriously. There are a range of betting options open to you. The best bookmaker for MMA betting, according to our research, is SkyBet.
SkyBet came out on top for a number of reasons. Firstly, the number of promotions and bonus opportunities available on UFC far exceeded the majority of their competitors. Secondly, they challenged to be the best bookmaker for MMA odds and offered a good number of markets on both headline fights.
In-play betting is also an option for you at SkyBet, with a number of live markets available.
It’s interesting to see that the so-called big boys of UK online betting lag behind some of their less illustrious competitors in the fight to be the best bookmaker for MMA betting. This goes to show that it’s worth looking around for the best bookies, instead of presuming that the bigger the name, the better the bookmaker.
