Ahead of the weekend, here we have a prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview ahead of the match between Brentford vs Man City. It’s difficult to back a winner between these two sides.
Brentford provides plenty of entertainment at this venue. No side has scored more home goals. Thomas Frank’s side had picked up one point in four matches before they hit Southampton for five. City come here on the back of two successive victories. Pep’s side didn’t exactly dominate either clash. They will be up against a rampant Brentford side.
England, Premier League, Tuesday, January 14th, 19:30 (UK)
Thomas Frank’s side have performed excellently at the Brentford Community Stadium. An impressive 22 of their 27 points have come at this venue across the Premier League this term. Arsenal and Nottingham Forest clinched maximum points when heading here. Those fixtures have come in consecutive fixtures here. There is plenty to like about the Bees. No side has scored more home goals this term than their 27.
Manchester City have claimed back-to-back victories. It’s been a long time since they achieved such a feat. We can’t take much out of that at all. Pep’s side beat Leicester away from home. The Foxes ended the game with more possession, created more big chances and narrowly won the xG battle. West Ham were beaten 4-1 at the Etihad the following week. City lost the shot count 10-17, accumulated the same number of big chances and only won the xG by less than 0.60. Those two wins were perhaps fortunate. This slump is far from ending, so it seems.
Always consider a goals angle when Brentford host a Premier League encounter. Only high-flying Nottingham Forest have prevented Frank’s side from scoring. Eight of ten matches have seen three or more goals, with seven going one further with four. City’s defensive problems will likely continue against a forward-thinking Brentford side.
Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have bagged 23 goals between them this term. A hefty 17 have arrived at this ground. The pair love playing football in front of the home fans and should fancy their chances of extending their impressive tally when the Citizens visit. Erling Haaland is the biggest goal threat. The Norwegian has scored three times across the previous two matches after four games without a goal. He’s priced at 1.72 to score anytime, a bet worth considering.
It’s tough to back against anything other than a high-scoring encounter. A whopping 46 have been scored in ten matches here. City have managed four clean sheets in 20 outings. Brentford have earned just three. Attack is where these two teams thrive, especially the hosts. City has several defensive absentees, and confidence levels are at an all-time low. Thomas Frank will know how to set his side up. He’s tactically fantastic and will aim to cause Pep’s side problems.
The Goal Line opened at Over 3.0 on the Asian Line in this match. Over 3.5 is now the available line. It’s fair enough, given the teams involved. Matches here have been goal crazy, and we could quite comfortably see another four goals on Tuesday evening.
Brentford vs Man City Prediction odds via bet365 as at 18:00, January 10th, 2024. Odds may now differ.
The hosts are without numerous names. Hickey, Mee, Carvalho, Thiago Rodrigues, Ajer and Rico Henry will not feature. Ethan Pinnock is suffering from a knock. Carvalho and Rico Henry are likely to return later this month.
Ederson is doubtful for the away side. John Stones won’t feature on Wednesday night due to a foot injury. Oscar Bobb has been out all season but will return soon. Ruben Dias will return at the end of the month. Rodri remains sidelined.
Both sides look stronger in offensive areas.
