Intriguing matchup to kick off the week’s action in Kitzbuhel between the more experienced lefty from Brazil and his younger counterpart, who’s had a hit-and-miss kind of season.

Despite some strong wins earlier in the season, Lehecka has faltered of late, having won back-to-back matches just once since early May. His talent is undeniable, though. His game isn’t the most powerful, but it’s certainly not a purely defensive one, either. He’s also got a good combination of athleticism and mental acuity on the court and shotmaking ability.

Monteiro, on the other hand, has a traditional serve and forehand combination that will play well in the altitude. He’s also a natural clay courter that has played the overwhelming majority of his career matches on the surface.

This match has all the makings of a lengthy one. On the one hand, a solid veteran, whose serve should hold up well, can be prone to mental lapses within matches. On the other, the young Czech, who is more consistent and able to dazzle more with his shotmaking abilities, but doesn’t have the power that Monteiro does.

For the reasons listed above, I’m more than happy to back the over in this position. I wouldn’t mind the over 2.5 sets prop either if available at one of your bookmakers, but the games work as well. Especially considering that even on clay, we often see these over 22.5 games markets that should be set at 23 or 23.5 games with the altitude factored in.
