Free Snooker Betting Tips
Snooker, similar to pool, is a “cue sport.” It is played on a large table with six pockets using a white cue ball and 21 balls for scoring--15 red worth one point and six balls of other colours worth between two and seven points. The object of the game is for each player to score more points than his or her opponent. This is achieved by “potting” the scoring balls.
At the beginning of each player’s turn, the player must first pot a red ball. He may then shoot at a higher scoring ball. If he makes this shot, he is awarded the points and the scoring ball is returned to the table. He must successfully pot another red ball, before taking shot at a scoring ball. If he fails to sink a red ball, or a scoring ball, the table reverts to the opponent. The game ends when all of the red balls have been potted and the winner is determined by who has scored the most points.
The number of snooker ranking events has increased in recent years, meaning many more betting opportunities for those who like to wager on the sport. In turn, bookmakers now offer a huge range of snooker betting markets. As well as outright betting, you can bet on individual match winners, frame winners, number of century breaks and more. Betting on snooker in-play is also incredibly popular, with plenty of value to be found.
Whether you're looking to bet on major ranking events, such as the Snooker World Championships, or qualifying events, our tipsters are here to help you. Throughout each snooker season, our bettingexpert members post their snooker tips and predictions from outright winners of tournaments to frame betting. Both the men's and women's game have gained new audiences in recent years. With the introduction of various ranking events, with many of these televised, betting on snooker has become a particularly favourite for many in betting circles.
However, the men's World Snooker Championships remain the highlight of the snooker calender. A hugely popular event for bettors, the World Championships can provide excellent opportunities to find value in both pre-match and in-play betting.
The quality of snooker has improved dramatically, meaning instead of only two or three players being favourites to win a particular tournament, there can be arguments to be had for any of the top 16 players and beyond for winning major events. This is shown in the recent record of World Championships winners, with Stuart Bingham, Neil Robertson and Graeme Dott all winning the title despite being outsiders at the start of the event.
Joe Davis holds the record for most world titles, with 15 to his name. In the modern era, Stephen Hendry leads the way with seven World Snooker Championship titles. The current title holder is Mark Williams, who won his third title in 2018.
