The best Europa League tipsters
Gent vs Roma Prediction
Roma got back to winning ways with a slender 1-0 victory over their Belgian counterparts Gent in the Europa League 1st leg – a result which ensures the Italians have a decent advantage in the decider on Thursday. Carles Perez’s only goal ended a run of five games without victory for the Italian giants and will hope this new momentum will carry them on into the round of 16.Read more

Gent vs Roma Prediction
Gent vs Roma Prediction
Gent will have to muster the same energy at home that saw them top their group ahead of the likes of St-Etienne and Wolfsburg, if they are to overcome steep odds when they welcome Roma to the Ghelamco Arena.
Gent brushed off their single goal loss at the Stadio Olimpico with a 4-1 win this past weekend domestically. Prior to their defeat in the 1st leg of 32 in the Europa League the Belgian outfit had been on a eight-game run unbeaten in all competitions, so despite the defeat in Rome they will retain hope of shocking the Italians on their own patch.
Roma’s form in the Europa League before this meeting with Gent was hardly spectacular, but they got the job done. With two wins in the group stage, alongside three draws, Roma’s only blip was a defeat to German side Mönchengladbach. Since their 1-0 win over Gent, the Italians have gone on to win their only domestic league encounter 4-0.
Gent vs Roma Recent Meetings
With the recent 1-0 in the books, Gent and Roma have only met in-total three times competitively, with the 2nd leg being just the fourth clash of two sides with big reputations in their respective countries. The solitary time that Roma have played at Gent was way back in 2009, with the Italian’s prevailing 7-1 away in Belgium, adding a further three goals to their aggregate score, to see the tie finish 10-2.
Gent conceding seven at home on Thursday is highly unlikely, instead they are likely to maintain belief that this is a fourth meeting between clubs that can reap big rewards.
Gent vs Roma Stats & Analysis
Gent’s general home form has seen them excel both domestically and in the Europa League, and that’s why this is a tie that is far from over. In European games this season (including preliminary qualification) the Belgian’s have won five of their six matches at the Ghelamco Arena, drawing just the once to Wolfsburg. That impressive win ratio of 83% stands Gent in good stead. Not only that but home games this season have yielded an average of 4.30 goals per match, with the most common scoreline in games at home for Gent being 2-1 (33% of the time), with three goals getting scored 50% of the time.
Roma’s away form in this season’s Europa League and been nothing short of mixed, with one victory, one defeat and one draw – the shock 2-1 loss to Austrian side Wolfsburger will, in hindsight, become a real wake up call heading to Belgium in the 2nd leg. Goals are expected, similar to Gent’s average goals per match, with Roma’s away games seeing 2.67 goals and a 67% chance of both teams scoring when on the road.
Gent vs Roma Bets
Roma of course head in to this game as astute favourites, with their reputation carrying plenty of weight, but Gent’s home form in the competition has been undeniable. As such 2/1 odds on the Belgian’s springing a surprise victory on Roma looks like a very decent price indeed. The draw is a very profitable looking 5/2, while the Italians are at 10/11 to win on the night – there’s profit to be had in all three result options.
Gent are a whopping 5/1 to Qualify for the round of 16 and while it would be a huge shock to see Roma dumped out at this stage, this Gent side are no pushovers in Europe this season, and a slender 1-0 loss in Roma proved that.
With Gent seeing an average of 4.30 goals in home matches and Roma with 2.67, it would be a surprise to see this being a low scoring affair. Over 2.5 Goals has odds of 6/10, while Over 3.5 is priced at 8/5.
