Tipster Competition Rules

bettingexpert is all about playing fair. Please abide by the following code of conduct. Respect the rules, respect other tipsters and play fair. Tipsters who decide to ignore these rules will receive punishments deemed appropriate by the bettingexpert staff.

1. General Rules

1.1. All content and comments posted on bettingexpert are expected to contain polite language. Please respect your fellow tipsters and refrain from using abusive, racist, sexist, homophobic language or any other forms of discrimination. We also ask tipsters to avoid using any intentionally provocative content e.g. extreme political views. bettingexpert is for everyone regardless of who they are, where they come from or what they believe in.

1.2. One tipster account per person.

1.3. All new tipsters must enter a trial stage (rookie) whereby they must prove they are capable of posting tips correctly before they are promoted to a verified status and allowed to compete for prizes in the monthly competition.

1.4. Tipsters must have a positive profit at the end of the month to be eligible for any prizes.

2. Technical Rules

2.1. Tipsters are required to post a minimum of eight tips every month in order to qualify for competition prizes.

2.2. All tips posted on bettingexpert must be exclusive to bettingexpert.

2.3. Analyses accompanying tips must be unique and demonstrate enough value and insight to support that particular tip.

2.4. Analyses must be exclusive to one tip only. Repeating or copying any part of an analysis from other tips or from other sites is not permitted, even if these websites are owned by the tipster.

2.5. Copying other people's work and posting it on bettingexpert under your own name, intentionally exploiting bugs or trying, in any other way, to gain an unfair advantage over other tipsters is absolutely not acceptable. Tips are checked and those caught cheating or bending the rules will be strongly punished. Conversely, honesty and respect for the integrity of bettingexpert is praised and often rewarded.

2.6. Tip analysis should contain a minimum of 100 words.

2.7. Any tip analysis must be relevant to that specific match. Any analysis which does not support its tip will result in it being voided.

2.8. Analyses should contain well articulated language. The use of software to translate whole paragraphs or sections is not allowed. Please use the appropriate bettingexpert language site if you are unable to write coherently and to an acceptable level in English.

2.9. The maximum stake of 10 units should be reserved for tips in which the tipster can demonstrate a higher degree of confidence in its value. As such, the use of the maximum 10-unit stake is to be limited to no more than 1 out of every 10 tips posted (or 10% of the total number of tips posted in that month).

2.10. If a tipster posts more than the permitted number of 10 unit tips in any given month, tips will be either downgraded in value or voided. Constant abuse of the 10 unit stake can result in punishment.

2.11. The maximum combined stake allowed on any event is 10 units. There is an exception for Horse Racing, Motor Sports and Golf. Please see section 3. for further details.

2.12. The permitted units staked depends on the odds of a given tip. The table below explains which stakes are allowed across particular odds ranges:

Odds < 2.5

max. stake of 10 units

2.5 Odds < 3

max. stake of 8 units

3 ≤ Odds < 5

max. stake of 6 units

5 ≤ Odds < 10

max. stake of 3 units

10 ≤ Odds < 20

max. stake of 2 units

20 ≤ Odds < 50

max. stake of 1 unit

50 ≤ Odds < 100

max. stake of 0.5 units

100 ≤ Odds

max. stake of 0.25 units

The minimum stake for bets with odds of less than 50 is 1. For tips on very high odds, tipsters are restricted to 0.5 between 50 and 100 and 0.25 for odds higher than 100.

2.13. Once a tip is posted and its respective bookmaker is chosen, this cannot be modified.

2.14. In the event of disputes over tips, the tip description is final. Always make sure your tip description correctly explains your tip.

2.15. The 'tip in one line' must be composed in a correct manner so that it clearly explains the desired tip:

  • For 1X2 bets: [team/player] to [win/draw] @ [odds]

  • For Asian Handicap: [team/player] to [win/lose] with AH[handicap] @ [odds]

  • For European Handicap: [team/player] to [win/lose/draw] with EH[handicap] @ [odds]

  • For Outright Winner: [team/player] to win [event] @ [odds]

  • For Total Goals/Points: Total Goals/Points [over/under] [number] @ [odds]

  • For Correct Score: Correct Score [score] @ [odds]

  • For Half Time/Full Time: HT/FT: [1/X] @ [odds]

  • For Both Teams to Score: Both teams [not] to score

  • For Baseball Bets: [team] to win @ [odds] : [selected pitchers must start]

  • For Hockey Bets: [team] to win @ [odds] : [OT included / OT not included]

2.16. When the settlements of tips are disputed, the final decision is based on how the bookmaker in question has settled the bet recommended in the tip. i.e. if the bet is voided by the bookmaker then the tip at bettingexpert is also voided.

2.17. Tips must not be posted later than thirty minutes before the event is scheduled to start.

2.18. Tips on individual games are not allowed to be posted earlier than two weeks before the event begins.

For outright winner tips, this deadline is extended to whenever the competition/tournament/event concludes.

3. Sport Specific Rules

3.1. In horse racing, motor racing (including Formula 1) and golf, tipsters are allowed to stake up to 10 units on the outright winner in addition to a further combined stake of 10 across any other markets.

3.2. All analyses for horse racing tips must state how many runners will enter the selected race.

4. Disputes

4.1. When bettingexpert administrators correct mistakes in tips that breach the rules listed above, they will remove any tips that would have resulted in profit for the tipster. However, any incorrect tips that lead to a loss to the tipster will be allowed to stay as they would have resulted from the tipster's own lack of compliance with the rules.

4.2. Occasional mistakes by tipsters will not result in punishment however repeated cases of the same mistake can result in punishment if bettingexpert deems the tipster is trying to achieve an unfair advantage over other tipsters.

4.3. bettingexpert reserves the right to reward or punish tipsters where they see fit. Explanations will always be given when it operates outside the normal competition rules.

4.4. Punishments include voiding/deleting tips, warnings about conduct, temporary bans and in certain circumstances permanent blocking. The extent of a punishment is determined by the severity of the offence and if the tipster is a repeat offender. Cases are judged on individual merit and decisions made by bettingexpert are final and should be respected.

4.5. For any other issues or doubts which have no clear guidelines in the above terms and conditions will be dealt with at the discretion of the bettingexpert administration.

We hope all tipsters find these conditions fair and suitable. If you are still in doubt about anything, check out our FAQ which should be able to provide more information on common issues. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
