As anyone who follows English football will know, Villa lost to 4th division Bradford City in the league cup semi 1st leg. I am disappointed in my lack of faith in the my home team Bradford and had tipped Villa for success.

Whilst credit has to be given to Bradford, the way Villa capitulated following the opening goal and the lack of composure in front of goal were startling. The team clearly lacks authority and the average age of the back four was something like 22. If a similiar team steps out on Saturday and can see Southampton taking all three points because they will be better rested and have Ricky Lambert to terrorise Villa's rearguard.

I would normally call this a draw but think the Saints could claim only their second away win of the season. Southampton have only 2 defeats in their last 10 league games (excepting the 1-5 defeat to Chelsea in the cup). They are improving in this division and a win here would go a long way towards securing their premier league status adding to the spiral of bad results enveloping the Midlands club.

I'm a fan of this Saints side and like the way the team has been built. Adkins is a progressive manager and the team deserve to win this if they play to their potential.
