Premier League Gameweek 33: Gunners Edge Closer to Glory as Spurs Stare Down the Abyss
As of mid-April 2026, the English top flight is entering Gameweek 33 and its definitive final stretch. With most clubs having completed 32 matches, the “winter upsets” have solidified into a clear league hierarchy. While the title race appears to be Arsenal’s to lose, the bottom of the table is hosting a survival battle involving names that few would have predicted at the season’s start.
Who are the favorites to win the English Premier League?
Arsenal remain the heavy favorites to lift the trophy. The Gunners sit atop the table with 70 points from 32 games. Their cushion was maintained throughout March as Manchester City struggled for consistency. While City (64 points) hold a crucial game in hand (having played 31 matches) and are still mathematically in the hunt, they currently trail Mikel Arteta’s side by six points.
In the current prediction markets, the Premier League outright winner odds are as follows:
11th April 2026; Emirates Stadium, London, England; Premier League Football, Arsenal versus Bournemouth; Viktor Gyokeres of Arsenal is fouled by Marcos Senesi of Bournemouth
Who are the teams expected to be relegated from the Premier League?
The relegation battle has reached a fever pitch, with two clubs nearly resigned to the drop and a third spot that could claim a historic casualty. Wolverhampton Wanderers (20th) and Burnley (19th) are effectively certainties for relegation, with bookmakers pricing both at a near-guaranteed 1.00 (1/500) to go down.
The true shock of the 2025/26 season is the ongoing freefall of Tottenham Hotspur. Following a disastrous 2026 run in which they have struggled to secure points, Spurs have plummeted into the relegation zone (18th place) and currently sit two points behind West Ham United, who occupy the safety of 17th place.
Current relegation odds highlight the precariousness of Tottenham’s situation:
Tottenham Hotspur:
2.10 (11/10)
West Ham United: 3.00 (2/1)
Nottingham Forest: 6.00 (5/1)
Leeds United: 11.00 (10/1)
With West Ham holding a critical two-point buffer and Spurs still fighting for survival in Gameweek 33, the final trapdoor spot remains fiercely contested. For punters looking for a high-value narrative bet, the “Spurs to go down” market, threatening their first drop to the second tier since 1977, remains a primary talking point.
Premier League 2025/26 Season Preview
The 2025–26 Premier League season kicks off with intensified drama and relentless ambition. Liverpool, under Arne Slot, flaunt blockbuster reinforcements like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, and Giorgi Mamardashvili, signaling their intent to retain the title.
Arsenal, perennial bridesmaids, are pushing for a breakthrough after three close finishes, focusing on newfound firepower from Viktor Gyökeres and stability via Martin Zubimendi. Manchester City, rebuilding quietly, lean on additions like Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders to reinforce their system—even as midfield health remains vital.
Chelsea ride the wave of Club World Cup success and aggressive youth investment—but their season hinges on whether chaos births consistency. Manchester United aim to rebuild under Ruben Amorim, bolstered by new attacking signings like Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha.
Newcastle lurk as dark horses amid uncertainty around Alexander Isak, while clubs like Aston Villa and Newcastle seek European blows. Promoted Leeds, Burnley, and Sunderland must fight for survival, unsteady in the ever-hungry top flight.
Off the field, the campaign sees tech upgrades: semi-automated offside tracking, rule tweaks like captain-only referee communication, and a fresh Puma match ball replacing Nike. With over £1 billion splashed across clubs, the season promises high stakes, tight battles, and no guarantees, just beautiful volatility.

Premier League Stats
When it comes to the number of goals, Bundesliga is best for the fans because a lot of them are being scored and then comes the Premier League. La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 have a bit worse stats but all top leagues are very close. They are scoring 3 or more goals in more than 50% of the matches.
They stand at 52% for Both Teams to Score betting tips which is quite similar to other leagues and teams. With 2.85 goals per match and a big home advantage that clubs have, they are still the best league in the world. What is interesting is that most goals are scored in the last 15 minutes of the game.

Premier League Competition Format
The new 2025-26 season counts 20 teams as before. No changes in the format have been established, meaning that the same system for determining the champion will be imposed.
At the end of the season, the last three teams will depart the EPL and go down to the EFL Championship. As far as the upper part of the table goes, the top four teams will earn spots in the Champions League. The fifth place on the table is reserved for the Europa League.
English teams will have two more teams in European competitions the next season, but will not be able to establish them through the Premier League. Namely, the FA Cup winner will also qualify for the Europa League, while the EFL Cup winner will earn a spot in the Conference League.

As far as titles go, there have been 24 different teams that won the English football title. This, of course, includes both the Football League and First Division titles, before the competition was established as the PL. Manchester United may have fallen behind in recent years, but the Red Devils were, until this season, the team with the most PL titles to their name. This season, Liverpool equaled the number, and now the bitter rivals stand jointly at the top of the all-time Premier League title winners. Will Liverpool overtake in 25/26?

Premier League Player of the Year
One of the most interesting parts about making Premier League predictions is a turnaround towards the best players. Individual performance can sometimes shape a season for a club, whether by being the best player on the pitch or by scoring the most goals. In the 2023 season, Haaland broke a few records and became the league’s best scorer with 36 goals in 35 matches. Here is our expert take on most goals in the Premier League.
