Premier League 24/25 Season Review
The 2024/25 Premier League season is in the books, and Liverpool have lifted the trophy as champions for the 20th time in their history. Their title-clinching performance was highlighted by a dominant 5-1 win over Tottenham at Anfield, a result that sealed the deal with four matches to spare.
Goals from Luis Díaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, and Mohamed Salah, along with a Destiny Udogie own goal, capped off a campaign that saw Liverpool consistently outpace their rivals. Arsenal and Manchester City trailed behind, finishing second and third, respectively, but neither could mount a late challenge strong enough to catch the Reds.
Liverpool’s success was built on a blend of experienced stars and emerging talent. They finished the season with 84 points from 38 matches, scoring 86 goals and conceding just 41, the second-best defensive record in the league behind Arsenal (34). Arsenal and Manchester City also secured Champions League spots, with Chelsea and Newcastle rounding out the top five.
Notably, Newcastle’s fifth-place finish was enough to secure Champions League football thanks to an expanded format, despite a final-day loss to Everton. Chelsea, meanwhile, finished fourth after a strong finish to the season.
European Qualification
European qualification saw a total of nine Premier League teams earn spots for next season. Tottenham, despite a disappointing league campaign, will enter the Champions League as Europa League winners. A rare example of a team outside the top four making Europe’s top club competition.
Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, as FA Cup winners, will play in the Europa League, while Nottingham Forest’s seventh-place finish earns them a Conference League berth. Brighton, despite finishing eighth, missed out on European football due to the way the slots were allocated.
Relegation
At the other end of the table, the relegation battle was intense but ultimately clear-cut. Ipswich Town, Leicester City, and Southampton were the three sides to drop to the Championship. Ipswich’s fate was sealed after a heavy defeat to Newcastle, leaving them 15 points from safety.
Leicester’s return to the top flight lasted just one season, as they finished 18th with only 25 points. Southampton endured a historically poor campaign, finishing bottom with just 12 points and a -60 goal difference. Making it one of the worst records in Premier League history.
Standout Players and Statistics
Individual performances were a highlight of the season. Mohamed Salah led the scoring charts with 29 goals, continuing his remarkable consistency as Liverpool’s talisman. Newcastle’s Alexander Isak finished as runner-up with 23 goals scored, just in front of Erling Haaland of Manchester City, who netted 22 goals.
Salah also finished as the best assist-maker of the season with 18 successful passes, making his overall tally 47 goal contributions this season. Jacob Murphy of Newcastle had one of the best seasons of his career, which saw him make 12 assists and finish second.
Season Overview
This season was notable for its clarity: Liverpool’s dominance was rarely in doubt, the European places were settled early, and the relegation battle, while hard-fought, ended with little drama after the final rounds. The expanded Champions League format gave more teams a chance at Europe’s top table, and the league’s depth was on display as traditional mid-table sides like Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa pushed for European places.

Premier League Stats
When it comes to the number of goals, Bundesliga is best for the fans because a lot of them are being scored and then comes the Premier League. La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 have a bit worse stats but all top leagues are very close. They are scoring 3 or more goals in more than 50% of the matches.
They stand at 52% for Both Teams to Score betting tips which is quite similar to other leagues and teams. With 2.85 goals per match and a big home advantage that clubs have, they are still the best league in the world. What is interesting is that most goals are scored in the last 15 minutes of the game.

The new 2024-25 season counts 20 teams as before. No changes in the format have been established, meaning that the same system for determining the champion will be imposed.
