The Eredivise consists of 18 of the top Dutch teams to compete in the highest football league in the Netherlands. The Dutch season starts in the Autumn period and end in late spring. Each club will face each other twice, one home and one away game, in the course of the season. The winner of the Eredivise will qualify for the Champions League along with second place, while third and fourth gives access to the Europa League. On the other end of the Eredivise, the bottom club will be relegated to the Ereste Divisie (First Divison) while the next two bottom clubs will go into a promotion/relegation playoff group. Each promotion/relegation group will consist of one Eredivise team and three high placed club from the Ereste Divise.

Eredivise Winners:

Ajax are one of the most successful Eredivise club winning the domestic title 29 times, followed by PSV Eindhoven with 21 and Feynoord with 14. Ajax is one of the powerhouses of Dutch football as their youth system has brought out many great players like Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Kluivert, Clarence Seedorf, Edwin Van der Saar Edgar Davids and Marco Van Basten. Many other greats players have also played their football in the Dutch League like Johan Cryuff, Ronaldo, Romario, Jari Litmanen, Ruud van Nistelrooij and many more.
