There are four meetings in the UK on Thursday, with three competitive NH cards at Newcastle, Taunton and Warwick. AW fans can look forward to a twilight meeting at Chelmsford starting at 4pm. Recent storms and rain have eased the ground conditions up and down the country, and judged by the fields at declarations there should be some cracking action at all the tracks (with the December meeting at Cheltenham starting on Friday).

Kim Bailey has hot form in the past fortnight after a quiet start to the season proper, and this highly regarded novice shaped better than the bare result on his hurdling debut at Lingfield in very deep ground. He perhaps overdid things racing with zest at the head of affairs there (sent off a heavily backed 8/13f), and the better ground expected at Warwick on Thursday should suit ideally (strapping chasing type who will stay three miles in time).

Nicky Martin’s handicapper has been coming to the boil run to run in three starts this season, and a big field at this sharp left handed track should suit ideally. The booking of Daryl Jacob increases confidence that he will get a patient well-timed ride from rear, with plenty of pace on up front to make this a true test of stamina at 2m5f.
