There are six meetings in Britain and Ireland on Friday, with Ascot, Dundalk (AW) and Newcastle (AW) providing some competitive decent quality flat action to keep bookmakers and punters busy through to the evening. Jumping fans have interesting cards at Downpatrick, Fontwell and Hexham to study, with the action getting underway at 1.45pm at the Sussex venue.

Ascot 3:22 (UK time)
James Fanshawe has endured an unusually quiet summer, but recent signs have been more encouraging and his consistent 5-y-o has been found a cracking opening in this valuable Classified Stakes at Ascot on Friday (with Buick taking over in the saddle). He has run two cracking races in defeat over seven furlongs at this track, finishing with running left twice under regular rider Saffie Osborne in red hot handicaps, and this step up to a mile looks certain to unlock further improvement.

Ascot 2:12 (UK time)
Ed Walker’s quirky handicapper was not seem to best effect under a very negative ride at Newmarket last time out, but he still shaped as though in decent heart and this amateur rider’s contest could set up ideally for his customary late charge back at seven furlongs. A strong pace seems assured with a couple of frontrunners in the line-up, and he can swoop late with any luck in-running.
Odds: NA
