There are seven meetings in Britain and Ireland on a very busy Friday, with turf action from Bath, Cork and Newbury sure to be run on drying ground (with a sunny and warm weather forecast attracting big crowds). There are cracking jumps cards at Ayr, Exeter, Fontwell and Kilbeggan, with the two day Scottish National meeting always attracting up runners from the big yards in the south.
In this article:
Egbert
Ayr 1:50 (UK time)
Alan King’s 6-y-o disappointed at Sandown last time out, rather outpaced over 2m4f under a negative ride, but he had been progressing nicely before that and a step up to 3m on decent ground can see him bounce back to form under the excellent Tom Bellamy. He ran to a useful level in winning at Ludlow in January, and remains with upside as his untapped stamina is drawn out (after just four career runs over hurdles).
Odds: NA
Traprain Law
Ayr 1:15 (UK time)
Lucinda Russell’s progressive handicapper posted a career best effort over this course and distance last time out in March, making all of the running at a strong pace and finding generously for pressure after the last). He has now won 3 of his 10 starts over hurdles, (with more to come as he becomes more tractable in the early stages of his races). He will relish the drying ground, and the booking of the claimer Patrick Wadge certainly increases confidence.
Odds: NA
