A cracking Friday of racing from Royal Ascot, with the Group 1 Coronation Stakes a fantastic renewal on the quick ground (with runners from Britain, Ireland and France locking horns). There are also some typically wide open handicaps for punters to get stuck into, with maximum field sizes and bookmakers offering extra-places well worth seeking out.

Christopher Head’s high classy filly was not seen to best effect in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket last time out, doing too much too soon mid-race, and just fading inside the final 100 yards in a tight finish. She remains with plenty of scope to keep on improving after just seven career starts, and a more patient ride from Oisin Murphy is on the cards here over the mile trip that should suit ideally (as she learns to settle in the early stages/fast ground for the first time).

Karl Burke is enjoying the best season in his training career so far, and his progressive performer really impressed when taking a listed contest at Newbury last month (always travelling strongly under a confident ride from Clifford Lee). This represents a marked jump up in class to Group 1 level, but he is a real six furlong specialist who is still improving after just seven starts, and all of these sprinters are a lot more exposed/lack his potential.

2:30	Ascot	Mountain Breeze	Charlie Appleby’s promising filly has landed hefty market confidence on both career starts at Newmarket so far, and is well worth keeping on side of as she steps up in class at Royal Ascot on Friday.

4:25	Ascot	Bague D’Or	James Ferguson’s useful handicapper has been kept fresh for the Royal meeting since making a winning seasonal reappearance 44 days ago, and he has already shown a likeness for this course and distance with his previous trainer Chris Wall (now retired). He did not make the cut here on Tuesday (first reserve), but this looks slightly easier anyway and he should go close under Daniel Muscutt.
5:05	Ascot	Indellible	Ralph Beckett’s thrice raced filly impressed on her seasonal debut at Doncaster in May, and looks on an attractive opening mark now tackling handicap company for the first time under the excellent Hector Crouch. She is a strong travelling type with a turn of foot, and could improve further for faster ground/stronger pace for the first time.
5:40	Ascot	Space Legend	William Haggas’s progressive performer looked a desperately unlucky loser of the listed Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood last time out, and is worth sticking with now upped in class at the Royal meeting (with James Doyle taking over in the saddle for the first time and plenty more to come after just three career starts).
6:15	Ascot	Two Tribes	Richard Spencer’s 3-y-o has been kept fresh for the Royal meeting after shaping really well on his seasonal reappearance at Newmarket at the start of May (first run off a gelding op), and has untapped potential after just four career starts on the turf (now on much faster ground under Jason Hart).
