There are 5 meetings in Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with some fascinating back end flat racing from Newmarket that is sure to provide some horses to follow next spring. There are supporting AW cards from Dundalk and Southwell, while jumping fans will be eagerly anticipating the start of the two day Charlie Hall meeting at Wetherby (and some big field handicaps at Uttoxeter to get stuck into).

Press Your Luck
Wetherby 1:45 (UK time)
Chris Gordon’s four-time hurdle winner made a very impressive start over fences at Chepstow earlier in the month, jumping superbly first time and running on strongly to see off two useful rivals. He has plenty of scope to keep on improving as he gains more experience, and this looks a great opportunity to defy a penalty at Wetherby on Friday. Tom Cannon is sure to be positive from the front on the 7-y-o, and he is likely to take most of these rivals out of their comfort zone from an early stage.
Odds: NA
Coconut Splash
Wetherby 3:30 (UK time)
Evan Williams 7-y-o remains a maiden after six runs over fences, but he has run really well in defeat in warm company on several occasions and arguably posted a career best over this course and distance last February. He is likely to be fit for this seasonal reappearance with the yard now in the winners, and this opening handicap mark certainly looks well within his compass under the excellent Adam Wedge.
Odds: NA
