There are seven meetings in Britain and Ireland on a very busy Friday, with competitive flat racing dominating from the third day of the Ebor meeting at York. A compelling mixture of valuable Group action and tough handicaps will again bring a capacity crowd to the Knavesmire, with the track in immaculate condition. Ffos Las, Goodwood, Hamilton, and Newmarket stage supporting cards, with quick ground likely across the country after a dry and warm week. For jumping fans, there are big fields assured at both Kilbeggan and Killarney, with both tracks staging early evening fixtures.

John and Thady Gosden’s stayer lost his unbeaten record when disappointing behind Quickthorn at Glorious Goodwood, but he has had excuses there on the soft ground and can bounce back to form here under Frankie Dettori (with a strong pace on drying ground his optimum conditions). He has won 4 of his 5 career starts (strong traveller with a turn of foot), and this flat, galloping fair track should suit ideally.

William Haggas has his team in blistering form as usual, with 9 winners in the last 14 days, and his handicapper has shaped well all summer in strong contests on fast ground. He has been notably strong in the market on each occasion, and was simply left with far too much to do when only third at Windsor last time out. A bigger field and stronger gallop will bring his stamina into play late here, and Tom Marquand taking over in the saddle certainly increases confidence.
Odds: NA
