There are six meetings in Britain and Ireland on Monday, with competitive flat action keeping punters and bookmakers busy all through the afternoon and evening. Fixtures at Ayr, Newcastle (AW), Roscommon, Southwell (AW) and Windsor provide a mixture of competitive handicaps and maidens. There is also the return of jumping action from Worcester, with the new summer season getting off to a low key start on decent ground.
In this article:
Morning Sun
Ayr 2:55 (UK time)
Keith Dalgleish has his team in the winners as the flat season clicks into gear, and his unexposed 4-yo stepped forward with a cracking effort at Redcar on his seasonal reappearance. That run came after eight months off the track in a fairly strong handicap for the grade, and he did well to get involved late from a poor position initially. There should be plenty of improvement still to come after just five career starts, and this class 4 contest lacks any obviously well treated rivals.
Odds: NA
Freedom Flyer
Ayr 2:25 (UK time)
Ruth Carr’s consistent 4-y-o has been shaping better than the bare result on the all-weather this winter, and that proven race-fitness could count for plenty at Ayr on Monday. He is a freegoing sort with plenty of natural speed (ran really well on unsuitably testing ground at Catterick last time out when well backed), and the drying quick ground conditions should be ideal under Tom Eavves.
Odds: NA
