There are 5 meetings in Britain and Ireland on Monday, with low grade flat action from Brighton and Newcastle providing some good opportunities for class 5 and class 6 handicappers. NH fans are in for a busy afternoon, with three meetings at Galway, Newton Abbot and Perth. Some recent rain has been very welcome for these tracks in particular, with very small fields and uncompetitive racing rather leading to calls for the summer jumping programme to be curtailed.

George Baker’s filly has made small improvement on each of her three career starts to date, gaining vital Brighton experience when finishing third over five furlongs last time out at 20/1. She caught the eye there, and now starts off into handicaps on a potentially lenient mark under Pat Cosgrave. The step up to six furlongs should definitely suit, and a more positive ride is on the cards now she switches to nurseries.

Sir Mark Todd’s 3-y-o filly is clearly pretty modest at best, but she ran really well over this unique course and distance in July and now drops back down in class after a couple of lesser efforts in stronger company at Ffos Las (negatively ridden from well off the pace there). She remains with a bit of potential after just 7 career starts, and is likely to be ridden a lot more positively by Rob Hornby with some excellent prize money on offer at this level.
