There are six scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Monday, with flat fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Catterick, Roscommon, Windsor and Wolverhampton (AW) to study on decent ground, with some competitive handicaps to try to solve at the Berkshire venue (and Richard Hannon sure to be well represented at a track where he has an excellent record). Jump fans have lower grade action to study at Hereford and Killarney, with fast ground likely and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.
In this article:
Birkenhead
Catterick 3.47 (UK time)
Paul Midgeley’s speedy handicapper returned to his recent best form at Southwell in April on the all-weather, and he had excuses harried on the pace at Wolverhampton last time out. He carries tooweight here in a typically moderate Class 6 sprint, and the decent ground conditions should suit under David Nolan (with an attacking ride from the front always a good plan of attack at this sharp track).
Odds: 9.00
Keldeo
Catterick 3.17 (UK time)
Ollie Pears sprinter stepped forward at Musselburgh last time out, and this fast five furlongs on drying ground should suit her ideally under a front-running ride from the stalls by Cam Hardie. She remains open to some improvement from this lowly mark after just five runs so far on the turf, and this Class 5 lacks any unexposed or in-form contenders (with the yard in top form after 2 winners in the last fortnight from just twelve runners).
Odds: 4.50
