The rearranged Punchestown meeting is very much the highlight for racing fans on Monday, with the John Durkan Chase at 2.10pm seeing the return of the Gold Cup favourite Gallopin des Champs. He is sure to be a long odds-on favourite, and is likely to wow a big crowd with his excellent jumping from the front. There is also a jumps card from Lingfield providing the temperatures continue to rise, while AW followers have the evening fixture under lights at Chelmsford to get struck into.

Robert Walford’s mare returned to her very best form over this course and distance last month, travelling with real zest on the testing and just collared after the last by Last Quarter. She will appreciate the forecast rain easing the ground back at Lingfield on Monday, and the booking of the talented 3lb claimer Harry Kimber is a big positive .

Chris Gordon’s 6-y-o unseated his rider at the fifth fence when well backed for his chasing debut here in November, but has been given a confidence restorer since over hurdles and should go close here with a clean round of jumping. His bumper and hurdle wins point to him being very well treated if taking to this sphere, and his excellent yard are sure to have him completely re-schooled since that mishap.
