There are three scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Monday, with NH fans having Hereford, Plumpton and Punchestown to study on remarkably decent drying ground. AW fans have low grade action to get stuck into at Wolverhampton, with the lights coming on at 5.25pm (and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year).
In this article:
Duhallow Tommy
Plumpton 2:20 (UK time)
Toby Lawes is very much a young trainer to follow over the next few seasons, and his unexposed young chaser looked one to keep on side of when landing a wholesale gamble at this track last week (3/1 into 11/10f and ran on strongly to assert up the short straight). He now has to shoulder a 7lb penalty for that ready win on debut over fences, but it should be no issue with Ben Bromley claiming 5lb in the saddle (against some pretty modest and exposed Sussex regulars).
Odds: NA
Monjules
Plumpton 3:20 (UK time)
Harry Fry’s smooth travelling handicapper needs decent ground to get home at the business end of his races, and he has optimum conditions at Plumpton on Monday to return to winning form. He has won 4 from 17 over hurdles for a variety of different trainers, and will find this a good deal easier than when only seventh here on good ground last time out (negative ride/never landed a blow over an inadequate trip).
Odds: NA
