There are four scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Monday, with flat fans in for a varied afternoon. They have Pontefract, Windsor and Wolverhampton (AW) to study, with some tough handicaps to try to solve at the Yorkshire venue (and the top northern yards sure to be well represented in the traditionally strong novice/maiden contests). Jumping fans have big fields to attack at Worcester, with a huge crowd assured and excellent weather expected across the country.
In this article:
Havagomecca
Pontefract 2.40 (UK time)
Michael Dods sprinter has been running herself fit from a falling mark this season, and returned to her best form at Musselburgh last time out when gambled on. She should relish this much stiffer track (one previous run here in the past when finishing a creditable second), and the prevailing fast ground will be ideal under regular rider Conor Beasley.
Odds: 5.50
Freedom Day
Pontefract 3.45 (UK time)
Mark Walford would not be the most regular visitor up to Yorkshire, and he has found a good opening for his unexposed 4-y-o on his belated seasonal reappearance. He remains open to improvement for these astute connections after just four starts since arriving from the Gosden’s, and has certainly been given a chance by the handicapper from this reduced mark.
Odds: 6.00
