There are four scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Monday, with AW fans in for a busy afternoon and evening. They have Lingfield, Newcastle and Wolverhampton to study, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Surrey venue (and Gary Moore sure to be well represented). Jumps fans have decent grade action to study at Wincanton , with the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year on the drying spring ground.
In this article:
Gustavian
Wincanton 3.38 (UK time)
Anthony Honeyball’s frustrating chaser has been extremely expensive to follow this winter, but he has often shaped well in defeat in strong Saturday handicaps and this represents a marked drop down in class under Sam Twiston-Davies. He is best dominating from the front on soft ground, and this sharp right-handed track should suit ideally if able to dictate matters from the tape.
Odds: 5.50
Monviel
Wincanton 4.08 (UK time)
Harry Derham’s tough and likeable handicapper ran a cracking race when second at Uttoxeter last time out, relishing the heavy ground and throwing down a strong challenge from the last. The yard remains in excellent form (4 winners from their last 14 runners), and more positive tactics are on the cards here staying over the 2m4f trip from Paul O’Brien (will make a three mile chaser next season).
Odds: 5.50
