Saturday's Horse Racing Tips: Beverley, Goodwood, Newmarket August 27th

Today’s Racing Tips – August 27th
There are 8 races covered live on ITV on Saturday, with the very best of the action from Beverley, Goodwood and Newmarket. Fast ground is expected at all three tracks after another dry and mild week of weather, and there has been plenty of watering taking place to try and keep the jar out of the summer ground (and to enable competitive field sizes for the excellent prize money on offer). Beverley stages one of their biggest race days of the season, with the William Hill Beverley Bullet at 2.40pm sure to attract some high class sprinters from the top yards in the south.
Goodwood provides plenty of quality too, with the Group 2 Celebration mile at 3.35pm looking a cracking renewal, although tactics are likely to be important in a relatively small field. The three televised handicaps are likely to be much more competitive, and are certain to attract the bulk of the betting interest among punters.

Today’s Daily Nap
Manaccan
Newmarket 3:15 (UK time)
John Ryan’s progressive sprinter really impressed at the Shergar Cup meeting last time out at Ascot, overcoming a slow break and repeated interference when trying to close, storming clear inside the final furlong in the manner of one to follow upped in class. He comes into this at the top of his game with Hayley Turner booked, and can take this valuable prize if seeing daylight in the closing stages.
Odds: NA
Today’s Value Angle
Outrun the Storm
Beverley 1:30 (UK time)
Richard Fahey has his team in terrific form at the moment, and his useful 4-y-o handicapper had been shaping well in defeat since winning at Leicester in June (arguably did too much too soon when a cracking second at Newmarket last time). This fast ground should be ideal at Beverley on Saturday, and he can make all the running under the talented Oisin Orr
Odds: NA

ITV Racing Tips – Saturday August 27th
Time (UK) | Track | Horse | Analysis |
---|---|---|---|
1:30 | BEVERLEY | OUTRUN THE STORM | Richard Fahey has his team in terrific form at the moment, and his useful 4-y-o handicapper had been shaping well in defeat since winning at Leicester in June (arguably did too much too soon when a cracking second at Newmarket last time). This fast ground should be ideal at Beverley on Saturday, and he can make all the running under the talented Oisin Orr |
1:50 | GOODWOOD | BRIGHT DIAMOND | Karl Burke has an extremely strong hand in the juvenile division, and this promising filly impressed when making a winning debut at Newmarket at the start of the month. She is entitled to have learnt plenty for that experience (sent off an easy to back 10/1 chance), and can handle this jump up to listed company under the red hot Clifford Lee. |
2:05 | BEVERLEY | WAIT TO EXCEL | James Tate’s progressive performer has thrived in recent weeks, and he is fancied to defy a career high mark against much more exposed rivals under Ben Curtis. |
2:25 | GOODWOOD | SIR DANCELOT | John Butler has enjoyed a terrific summer, and this handicapper makes plenty of appeal at the current double figure price with Jim Crowley an eye-catching booking for the yard. |
2:40 | BEVERLEY | TIS MARVELLOS | Clive Cox’s 8-y-o veteran sprinter has shaped with promise on both runs this summer at Ascot and Newmarket, and the stiff uphill finish at Beverley should suit ideally in what is sure to be a very fast run sprint (numerous frontrunners in the line up and he won this race in style in 2021). |
3:00 | GOODWOOD | HOO YA MAL | George Boughey’s consistent 3-y-o shaped really well in the Gordon Stakes here last time out, and the form of that run behind New London has been well advertised by the runner-up Deauville Legend winning at York subsequently. He has long shaped as though a proper test of stamina should suit, and the step up to 1m6f is a definite positive on fast ground that he handles so well. |
3:15 | NEWMARKET | MANACCAN | John Ryan’s progressive sprinter really impressed at the Shergar Cup meeting last time out at Ascot, overcoming a slow break and repeated interference when trying to close, storming clear inside the final furlong in the manner of one to follow upped in class. He comes into this at the top of his game with Hayley Turner booked, and can take this valuable prize if seeing daylight in the closing stages. |
3:35 | GOODWOOD | MUTASAABEQ | Charles Hills smart 4-y-o just found Chindit too resolute when finishing second at Ascot last time out, but he lost little in defeat and this small five runner field should enable his turn of foot to be a potent weapon when the chips are down. |
