There are 7 cracking races on ITV on Saturday, with the featured second day of the December meeting at Cheltenham very much the highlight. There are sure to be raiders from the top Irish stables entered up, gathering valuable track experience ahead of the Festival in March, and plenty of future clues will be on offer in the three televised Graded races.

Over at Doncaster, the handicap chase at 3.15pm is sure to be a cracking betting race over three miles, while an early guide to the merits of the best juvenile hurdlers will be on display in the Summit at 2.40pm.

13:50	CHELTENHAM	MIDNIGHT SHADOW	Sue Smith’s team has hit form in recent weeks, and her battle-hardened handicapper showed a terrific attitude to win over this course and distance 28 days ago. That form got a major boost when the runner-up Protektorat stormed clear at Aintree last Saturday (and has now emerged as a leading Gold Cup contender).
14:05	DONCASTER	THREEUNDERTHRUFIVE	This Grade 2 novice has cut up very badly from declarations, with just three runners going to post, and Paul Nicholls progressive novice is expected to make all of the running and see off the disappointing Emitom.
14:25	CHELTENHAM	BARONY LEGENDS	Olly Murphy has a lovely team of young horses this winter, and his 5-y-o made a deeply impressive hurdling debut at Lingfield 41 days ago. Rain easing the ground would be no hindrance at all, and he is fancied to handle this jump up straight into Grade 2 company
14:40	DONCASTER	PORTICELLO	Gary Moore’s juvenile was only workmanlike when winning on his UK debut at Wetherby in October, not especially fluent and needing driving right out to assert up the straight. He is held in high regard at home (reportedly aimed at the Triumph at the Festival), and can improve dramatically on that initial experience.
15:00	CHELTENHAM	GUARD YOUR DREAMS	Nigel Twiston-Davies progressive performer impressed when winning a 2m3f handicap here in October on his seasonal debut, and shaped really well behind Buzz in a small field tactical contest at Ascot last time out.
15:15	DONCASTER	TWO FOR GOLD	Kim Bailey’s thorough stayer seems sure to be primed to go well on his seasonal debut in this valuable Saturday handicap, and any rain that falls easing the ground will very much increase his chances (reliable performer at his best who revels in the mud).
15:35	CHELTENHAM	MARTELLO SKY	Lucy Wadham’s mare posted a career best effort over this course and distance when winning back in April, and had excuses under negative ride at Aintree last time out (dropped out last and never landed a blow on the principals).
