There are some ultra-competitive handicaps for punters to tackle at the Berkshire venue, where watering should mean the ground remains on the easier side of good and the field sizes should stand up given the excellent prize money on offer. Up north, Newcastle stage their biggest meeting of the year on the turf, with the Fighting Fifth Grade 1 hurdle at 3.15pm always attracting some top

14:05	NEWCASTLE	AYE RIGHT	Harriet Graham’s useful stayer needed the run quite badly when well held on his seasonal return last month, but he has a touch of class when fully fit and these good ground conditions should be ideal under topweight.
14:25	NEWBURY	SOARING GLORY	Jonjo O’Neill’s useful hurdler returned after 7 months on the sidelines to land a valuable listed handicap at Ascot last month, and this looks a terrific opportunity to follow up with conditions to suit.
15:00	NEWBURY	ENRILO	Paul Nicholls has a terrific record in these big Saturday prizes, and he is sure to have his progressive young chaser primed for his reappearance after 217 days on the sidelines.
15:15	NEWCASTLE	EPATANTE	Nicky Henderson’s former champion has won 8 of her 13 starts under Rules, and comes here with a test of speed on decent ground very much in her favour after a 7 month break (since disappointing at Punchestown behind Honeysuckle).
15:35	NEWBURY	GUMBALL	This free-going frontrunner is best when dominating from the tape, and a positive ride round here on decent ground could soon have plenty of these rivals out of their comfort zone.
