A quiet day of racing in Britain on Sunday, with just three turf meetings at Beverley, Goodwood and Yarmouth. There are some competitive handicaps for the punters to get stuck into, and some rain last week should certainly help with the field sizes.

Goodwood 1:50 (UK time)
Roger Varian’s handicapper remains open to some improvement after just 7 runs on the turf, and is worth forgiving a poor run in a huge field at York last time out. His previous runner-up effort at this track over five furlongs showed that he was well capable off this kind of mark, and the quickening ground conditions should suit ideally under Jack Mitchell (good winner on very quick ground at Newmarket on his seasonal reappearance).

Goodwood 3:00 (UK time)
William Muir and Chris Grassick have enjoyed an excellent summer, and their consistent handicapper is expected to continue that fine run at Goodwood on Sunday. He is a strong stayer at this 1m2f trip, and should relish the bigger field here after finishing second in a couple of 4 and 5 runner contests at Sandown recently. There is still some scope to improve after just five career runs on the turf, and a positive ride from Lewis Edmunds would be a good plan of attack.
Odds: NA
