There are three remaining meetings in Britain and Ireland on Sunday (Bellewstown abandoned), with NH fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Down Royal, Hereford and Plumpton to study on improving spring ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Sussex venue (and local trainer Gary Moore sure to be well represented).
In this article:
Milan Bridge
Plumpton 3.50 (UK time)
Sarah Humphrey’s prolific chaser has a good strike rate at this level of competition, and bounced back to his very best over this course and distance last time out in December. He has been waiting for better ground in the spring, and seems sure to be primed after 118 days off the track (with Tom Cannon booked for the ride and more improvement in the tank after seven runs over fences so far).
Odds: 6.00
Royal Pretender
Plumpton 3.15 (UK time)
Alan King’s smooth-travelling handicapper has long shaped as though better ground in the spring would suit him, and the relative test of speed at Plumpton on Sunday should be ideal under Tom Cannon. He has become very well handicapped on the pick of his placed form in the last year, and this represents a definite drop down in class over the 3m1f trip.
Odds: 8.00
