There are five meetings in Britain and Ireland on Sunday, with competitive flat racing dominating from The Curragh, Pontefract, Sandown and Southwell (AW). Quickening ground is likely at the turf tracks after a hot and dry week across the country, though underfoot conditions are likely to be a lot easier for the only jumps meeting at Tramore.

Sandown 3:45 (UK time)
Andrew Balding has his team in blistering form as usual, and his progressive juvenile is fancied to make a winning handicap debut at Sandown on Sunday. He impressed when landing hefty market confidence in a warm Salisbury novice in June, and had deep ground as a valid excuse for an odds-on defeat at Chester last time out. The booking of Oisin Murphy increases confidence, and this opening mark underestimates his potential to improve after just three career starts.

Sandown 4:15 (UK time)
Willie Muir’s handicapper had been running with credit in victory and defeat all season until bombing out altogether at Newmarket last time out, but he had excuses there (didn’t handle the eased ground). A repeat of his previous efforts would see him go close under Kieran Shoemark, and a drop back to a stiff 5f should suit ideally with a few trailblazers likely to set things up for a late charge up the hill.
Odds: NA
