There are three meetings in Britain and Ireland on Sunday, with Ffos Las, Naas and Sandown to get stuck into on soft ground. There are some really tricky handicaps to solve across these competitive jumps cards, with the Esher venue sure to attract a big crowd for their season-opener.
In this article:
Jetronic
Sandown 2:15 (UK time)
Paul Nicholls 4-y-o made a promising start to his UK career when second at Cheltenham in October, and should strip a lot fitter for that run against a useful Irish raider in My Mate Mozzie. He performed to a consistent level all last winter in France in three runs, goes particularly well in testing ground, and has far more upside into handicaps than some more exposed rivals.
Odds: NA
Elegant Escape
Sandown 3:25 (UK time)
Joe Tizzard has his team in blistering form, with 5 winners in the last fortnight at a 20pc strike rate, and his veteran stayer could be worth chancing first time up at Sandown on Sunday (with Harry Cobden an eyecatching booking). He has plummeted down the weights after making no impact at all last season (at a time when the yard was very quiet), and is undeniably well treated if the fire still burns at the age of 11.
Odds: NA
