There are four scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Sunday, with NH fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Musselburgh, Punchestown and Southwell to study on testing ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the top Irish venue. AW fans have decent grade action to study at Kempton, with the lights coming on at 5.30pm at the Sunbury track and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.
In this article:
Out on the Tear
Southwell 2:25 (UK time)
Sam Altwood’s chaser has been building up to peak fitness in three promising runs so far this winter, and can bounce back to winning form on testing ground at Southwell on Sunday. He shaped well over this sort of trip when second at Sedgefield last time out under a typically patient ride on soft ground, and there should be a strong pace to aim for regular rider Toby Wynne in this modest looking Class 5 handicap.
Odds: NA
Ukantago
Southwell 3:00 (UK time)
Olly Murphy has enjoyed a fantastic February so far, and his dual winning hurdler is fancied to get off the mark over fences here in a weak handicap for the grade. He has run well in the frame on his last two runs, with jumping errors just blunting his finishing effort at Wetherby and Doncaster, and this sharper track (and a more positive ride from championship chasing Sean Bowen) should help in that regard.
Odds: NA
