There are 5 meetings on a busy Thursday in Britain and Ireland, with competitive jumps action from Doncaster, Ffos Las, Huntingdon and Thurles sure to attract the bulk of the betting activity. Drying ground conditions have affected field sizes this week, and there is no sign of the weather changing over the next week or so. All-weather fans have the card at Newcastle to get stuck into, with the floodlights coming on at 4.40pm.

Jeannie Candlish’s exposed handicapper has been running well in victory and defeat all winter in the north, and he shaped as though in top form when a cracking second at Sedgefield in January last time out (left with plenty to do from rear). His mark has now inched up as a result, but he has optimum conditions at Huntingdon on Thursday, and the eye-catching first time booking of the excellent Sam Twiston-Davies certainly increases confidence.

Sam Attwood’s 8-y-o has won 1 of his 9 starts so far over fences, and returned to his best form when a fair second last time out at Hereford on testing ground. These faster conditions (dropping back in trip to 2m3f) mean that a positive ride will be required from the promising claimer Toby Wynne, but he ran very well over this course and distance last February and should now be spot-on fitness-wise after two runs this winter.
