There are four meetings in the UK on Friday, with jumps action from Catterick and Chepstow the highlight. All-weather fans can get stuck into an afternoon card from the polytrack at Lingfield, while Newcastle provides the twilight action from 4.10pm under the lights.

Jack Barber’s progressive hurdler has run really well twice since winning a maiden hurdle at Lingfield in October, and has been found a good opening to defy a penalty  at Chepstow on Friday (in what appears a match on form with Kim Bailey’s Kyntara). He is a strong traveller who is usually ridden patiently, and the drying ground conditions should suit ideally with his small yard in terrific form.

Jeremy Scott’s 9-y-o made a winning start over fences in a huge field at Exeter 50 days ago, coming through strongly from miles off the pace to lead inside the final 100 yards under David Noonan. He remains open to loads of improvement in this sphere, and has been plenty of time to recover from those exertions (and hopefully avoid the dreaded bounce factor).
