There are 4 race meetings in Britain and Ireland on Friday, with Wetherby providing the only jumps fixture with a competitive card starting at 12.50pm. Four handicaps dominate the betting focus, with the 2m handicap chase over two miles at 3.05 likely to be a test of speed with ground conditions drying out through the week. There are three all-weather fixtures on the flat, with Lingfield on the polytrack in the afternoon and two twilight meetings at Wolverhampton and Dundalk under the lights.

Stuart Coltherd’s unexposed young chaser landed an almighty gamble at Sedgefield in November on just his second run over fences, and had excuses in atrocious conditions when second at Newcastle next time out (when again very well backed). He has been given 41 days to recover from that arduous experience, and can glide round this flat left handed track on soft ground under regular rider Sam Coltherd.
