There are five meetings in Britain and Ireland on Tuesday, with competitive flat racing dominating from Catterick, Chelmsford (AW), Ffos Las and Ripon. Ground conditions on the turf tracks are likely to be unseasonably soft, with the recent wet weather across the country showing no signs of ending. Jumps fans have an evening card at Roscommon to study, with decent field sizes likely and a big family crowd assured.
In this article:
Red Command
Catterick 3:25 (UK time)
Tracey Waggott’s 4-y-o remains a maiden after 11 career starts in a variety of spheres, but he has plenty of talent if it can be channelled more efficiently (hard puller), and he has been found a very good opening in this lowly Classified Stakes over 7f. He has to be excused a lesser effort on the AW at Newcastle last time (has run poorly there before), but his two previous runs on the turf were creditable in fair handicaps and an attacking ride from the front is on the cards here from Connor Beasley.
Odds: NA
Winklevi
Catterick 4:00 (UK time)
Dave Evans would not be the most regular visitor to Catterick, and this represents a drop in class for his frustrating staying handicapper (now down to a lenient mark on best of his form in the last year). He went with zest from the front at Chepstow one start back (just fading late over 2m), and Ben Curtis seems sure to be positive and get the far-rail from the stalls in this weak looking Class 6 contest.
Odds: NA
