There are six scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with flat fans in for an informative afternoon. They have Ayr, Gowran Park, Kempton (AW) and Yarmouth to study on quickening ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Scottish venue (and Jim Goldie sure to be well represented). Jumps fans have decent grade action to study at Southwell and Warwick, with plenty of runners at both tracks and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.

Dream Deal
Ayr 2.50 (UK time)
Danny Brook’s sprinter caught the eye parked widest throughout on his seasonal reappearance at Catterick earlier in the month, and is entitled to strip fitter with that run under his belt. He has won one of his 15 career starts so far, but six furlongs on decent ground would be his optimum conditions, and he can swoop late under Jack Garrity if enjoying any luck in running.
Odds: 5.50
Jackhammer
Ayr 3.50 (UK time)
Dianne Sayer’s battle-hardened 10-y-o veteran shaped well on his seasonal reappearance at Hamilton earlier in the month, and is entitled to sharpen up a touch fitnesswise for that first start since December. This strongly run mile on decent ground should be ideal (freegoing sort who needs settling in the early stages), and he can swoop past some modest northern handicappers under the excellent Jason Hart.
Odds: 7.00
