There are five meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with Dundalk (AW), Kempton (AW) and Newcastle (AW) providing some competitive all-weather action to keep bookmakers and punters busy through to the evening under the lights. Jumping fans have Ayr and Bangor (inspection permitting) to get stuck into on very soft ground, with some really tricky low grade handicaps to solve on two competitive cards.

Nicky Richards consistent chaser has been off the track for seven months ahead of this return to the fray at Ayr on Wednesday, but he is sure to be fully fit with the yard in terrific form and has optimum conditions to strike under the excellent Sean Quinlan. He has won 2 of his 14 starts over fences previously, and his sound jumping and proven stamina should be a real asset over this sapping three mile trip.

Stuart Coltherd’s mare ran really well in decent northern handicap hurdles for most of last winter on soft ground, and his scopey 8-y-o is fancied to make a winning chasing debut after seven months off the track. He ran six times for the yard last winter, and revelled in the mud when winning in style at Musselburgh in February over this two miles. Sam Coltherd seems sure to be positive to utilise his high cruising speed over 2m4f here, and he should be hard to beat with a fluent round of jumping first time up.
