There are five scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with flat fans in for a varied afternoon and evening. They have Bath, Epsom, Musselburgh, Thirsk and Tipperary to study, with some tough handicaps to try to solve at the home of the Derby on fast ground.
In this article:
Escarpment
Musselburgh 3.00 (UK time)
Mick Appleby’s handicapper returned to his recent best form when a creditable second at Beverley last week, travelling strongly under a confident ride (looked in command two furlongs out) and just denied up the hill. This flatter track on fast ground should be ideal under Jason Watson, and can finally snap his maiden tag at the sixteenth time of asking.
Odds: 3.50
Pembrokeshire
Musselburgh 3.30 (UK time)
Iain Jardine’s handicapper caught the eye over this course and distance last time out, free in rear initially and then doing too much too soon parked widest of all up the straight. He is now very well treated on the pick of his placed efforts in the last year, and perhaps a switch to more positive tactical can see him snap a losing run stretching back to last October here on good ground.
Odds: 8.00
