Wednesday’s Horse Racing Tips: Sandown, September 20th

Today’s Horse Racing Tips – September 20th
There are five meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with Beverley, Sandown and Yarmouth providing some competitive turf action to keep bookmakers and punters busy. The valuable listed contest at 3.40pm at the Esher venue is very much the highlight, with a decent field assembled on the eased ground. Jumping fans have interesting cards at Listowel and Kelso to study, with the action getting underway in Scotland at 2.10pm.

Sandown 1:55 (UK time)
Johnny Portman’s 3-y-o filly has plenty of upside in these sprint handicaps after just four runs on the turf so far, and she can gain compensation for a narrow defeat on the nod at Goodwood last time out. She should get the strong pace to aim at here with several trailblazers in the line up for this modest looking Class 5, and Rob Hornby will be looking to weave his way through late up the sapping Sandown hill.

Sandown 3:40 (UK time)
George Boughey’s useful 5-y-o has endured a winless summer so far, but he has been fairly highly tried in warm company and this valuable listed contest represents his best chance to snap a frustrating spell. He showed at Pontefract in July that a stiff mile suits ideally (a shade unlucky in a close third behind 5/4f Poker Face in a tight finish), and a positive ride from Daniel Muscatt here would make him very hard to pass.
Odds: NA
