There are six scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with flat fans in for an informative afternoon as the York Dante meeting gets underway on decent ground after some welcome rain fell yesterday. They also have Bath and Sligo to study, with some very trappy sprint handicaps to solve, while NH followers will be attacking the varied cards at Ffos Las, Perth and Tipperary.

Mortlake
York 4.15 (UK time)
Ralph Beckett’s unexposed performer was thought good enough to contest the Group 3 Solario on his final run last season, and is just the type the yard excels with now going handicapping from a lenient looking opening mark. The booking of Rossa Ryan encourages that he will be fully fit after 256 days on the sidelines (with the yard now in top form after 5 winners in the last fortnight), and he is open to loads more improvement after just three career starts.
Odds: 8.00
Two Brothers
York 2.15 (UK time)
David and Mick Easterby have their team in decent heart, with three winners in the last fortnight including one at the prestigious Chester meeting, and their battle hardened handicapper seems sure to go well here from the foot of the weights. He returned to his best form in the mud at Thirsk in April despite racing freely, and this strongly run contest on quicker ground should suit ideally under the excellent Billy Garrity.
Odds: 11.00
