Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Tips - Cheltenham 2021

Johnny Henderson Grand Annual 2021 Tips – Day 2, 16:15

The Grand Annual has a new place in the week at the Festival (switching to Wednesday from the Friday), and is always a compelling handicap over two miles. There is no hiding place from the tape as the runners always duel at a rapid pace, and the 2021 renewal has a typically wide open look to it. Jonjo O’Neill’s quirky Sky Pirate has been a revelation since dropping back to this two mile trip, and he has shortened up considerably in the ante-post market after winning here and at Warwick under confident rides.

Johnny Henderson Grand Annual 2021 Preview

The Grade 1 Queen Mother Champion Chase is the highlight of Wednesday at the Festival, with the best two mile chasers providing a thrilling spectacle. Willie Mullins Chacun Pour Soi has been a very strong favourite for this prize over the last few months (currenly a best priced 10/11f), really impressing in winning twice at Leopardstown at the top level under confident rides from Paul Townend.

His three main rivals from the UK all have plenty to prove, with Altior looking completely gone when disappointing at Kempton on his return, Nube Negra a flat track glider who may not get up the hill, and the reigning champion Politolouge surely vulnerable after winnning a dismal renewal in 2020.

Johnny Henderson Grand Annual 2021 Betting Tips

Ibleo, Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Tip #1

Venetia Williams handicapper is well ahead of his mark, winning from a long way out of his ground when narrowly landing the cash at Sandwon in December. He should relish the fast run nature of a Festival handicap on testing ground, and seems sure to go close granted any luck in running from rear.

Sky Pirate, Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Tip #2

Jonjo O’Neill’s quirky handicapper has been called a few names in the past, often promising more than he delivers off the bridle, but he clicked at Cheltenham in December under a brilliant ride from Jonjo jnr.

Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Winners

One of the oldest races in the calendar (dating back to 1834 and providing a brilliant spectacle over two miles), with a huge field guaranteed and a blistering gallop maintained from the tape. Croco Bay was one of the biggest shocks in the races history when rolling back the years in 2019 when he won at 66/1, but the punters were back in charge when the well backed Chosen Mate swooped late in 2020. The race has a new position on Wednesday in 2021, and punters are always best looking out for a patiently ridden two mile specialist (with numerous frontrunners usually cutting each others throats up front before the final hill).
