Daylesford Mares Novices Hurdle Tips - Cheltenham 2021

Mares Novices Hurdle 2021 Tips – Day 3, 16:15

This Grade 2 Mares hurdle is one of the quietest betting heats of the week, with running plans fluid and numerous alternative engagements now available to the top yards. It does provide a good opening for mares who maybe just below top class, and Alan King’s The Glancing Queen has some rock solid form in just a few runs over hurdles so far.

Mares Novices Hurdle 2021 Preview

A Grade 2 hurdle that provides (another) opportunity for lesser rated mares to shine at the Festival, and one that has singularly failed to capture punters imagination in the ante-post markets. Top stables dominate the entries and running plans are fluid until 48 hours before the big day, and the current offer of “5/1 the field” has seen very little betting activity.

Perhaps Peter Fahey’s Royal Kahala makes most appeal, with her trainer underestimated and plenty more improvement in the tank after just three runs over hurdles this winter. All of her form so far is in deep ground, but a positive ride is on the cards and her proven stamina for further could count for plenty up the final hill.

Mares Novices Hurdle 2021 Betting Tips

Royal Kahala, Favourite #1 for Stephen Harris

Peter Fahey’s mare has really impressed in winning both starts over hurdles at Fairyhouse this winter, barely off the bridle under a confident ride in January. She has plenty of scope to keep improving as her stamina is drawn out, and is well worth following as she steps up into warmer company.

Tip stakes (out of 5): 2

Hook Up, Favourite #2 for Stephen Harris

Willie Mullins mare is closely matched with our selection on their running earlier in the winter, and caught the eye when a cracking fourth behind the high class Appreciate It at Leopardstown in February. She remains with plenty of scope to improve after just five runs over hurdles, and the drying ground conditions could suit this smooth traveller ideally under Paul Townend.

Mares Novices Hurdle Winners

This Grade 2 Mares hurdle is run in memory of the great Dawn Run, and provides an opening for mares who are just below top class. Willie Mullins has predictably milked the prize since its inauguration in 2016, and Limini, Lets Dance and Laurina all added a touch of quality to the race for their top yard.
