Ryanair Chase Tips – Cheltenham 2021

Ryanair Chase 2021 Tips – Day 3, 14:30

The Grade 1 Ryanair Chase provides a terrific opprtunity for runners who are just below top class and would not be competitive in the Gold Cup on the Friday. The 2m4f trip also suits plenty who would not stay the 3m2f trip there, and it has produced some cracking finishes over the years. The 2021 renewal has a wide open look to it again, with 2020 winner Min the current 6/1f in the ante-post lists.

Cheltenham Ryanair Chase 2021 Preview

The Grade 1 Ryanair Chase has produced some thrilling finishes up the Cheltenham hill over the years, with those horses just below Gold Cup class able to taste glory at the top table (and the 2m4f trip providing a more suitable test for many who do not truly stay the 3m2f in the Blue Riband on Friday).

Some real old favourites are entered up for the 2021 renewal, with 2020 winner Min back to defend his title, and the enigmatic Melon shaping as though this test will be ideal on drying ground. The bookmakers currently offer “5/1 the field” with no standout contender in the formbook, and there are sure to be plenty in contention before the final sapping climb.

Ryanair Chase Tips 2021

Melon, Favourite #1 for Stephen Harris

Willie Mullins frustrating performer has only won 3 of his 22 races under Rules, but he has always reserved some of his best efforts for Cheltenham and ran a blinder from the front in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas.

Imperial Aura, Favourite #2 for Stephen Harris

Kim Bailey’s sound jumper is a model of consistency in warm company, winning 4 from 6 over fences so far, and he seems sure to go well again with testing ground conditions ideal and the yard remaining in brilliant form all through the winter months.

Cheltenham Ryanair Chase Winners

Another race which divides opinion, with NH purists convinced that it dilutes the quality of the Gold Cup field on Friday, but there is no doubt it has produced some cracking contests since it was added to Festival week in 2005. In 2019 Bryony Frost became the first female jockey to win a Grade 1 at the Festival when she partnered the gallant Frodon to an emotional victory, and he could well return in a bid to recapture his crown in 2021.
