A cracking Group 1 to start the five days at Royal Ascot, run on the straight mile and open to horses aged four years or older. This race saw an explosive performance from Frankel in 2012, one that will live long in the memory as he stormed clear to land win number 11 for Henry Cecil.

Queen Anne Stakes Tips 2020

Circus Maximus, Queen Anne Stakes Tip #1

Aidan O’Brien’s globetrotting colt has won four of his eleven career starts to date, and enjoyed a terrific 2019 with the highlight coming at Royal Ascot when he sprang a 10/1 surprise in the Group 1 St James Palace Stakes. With the yard enjoying a blistering start to the belated new season, he seems sure to be primed first time up to go close under Ryan Moore.

Andrew Balding’s lightly raced sort improved run to run in 2019, and seem sure to be primed to go close on his seasonal reappearance with everything from the yard winning or going close.

Queen Anne Stakes Winners

Royal Ascot begins with an event originally established in 1840, that was originally named the Trial Stakes. In 1930 it was renamed the Queen Anne Stakes (after the founder of Ascot racecourse). In 1971 it was granted Group 3 status, becoming a Group 2 in 1984 and finally a Group 1 in 2003. Last year saw a shock as the northen raider Lord Glitters (14/1) won for David O’Meara (gaining compensation for finishing second in 2018).
