How To Bet On Darts
If you're thinking about posting a darts betting tip, here are three pointers to keep in mind.
1 – Respect the short format
Like any sport, the longer the format, the less chance there is that an upset will occur and the greater chance the team or player with greater skill will prevail. When it comes to darts, the shortest format you can bet on is best of nine (first to five). In this short format, keep an eye out for potential upsets particularly in matches featuring short-odds favourites. Strangely, the odds in a short format darts match won’t be all that different to the odds that would be posted for a longer format game between the same two players. Yes, the better players will typically win over a longer format contest, but not as often in best of nine matches.
2 – Follow every event
There are a number of smaller darts events that impact players tour ranking points. Many of these smaller events are not televised by the major TV networks. If you want to consistently get the best of the value, keep up with every event by following the official PDC website or one of the darts analysis sites. The most recent darts event preceding a major TV event is invariably a better form guide than the previous major televised tournament.
3 – Find value in 'Most 180s' markets
Shrewd darts tipsters can profit by opposing the favourite in the 'Most 180s' market as it does not follow that the player scoring the most 180s will go on to win the match. Betting on the underdog in the ‘Most 180s’ market is a great way to make consistent profits in darts betting. One thing to keep in mind before making your selection however, is the likely number of total legs in the match.
Premier League Darts Betting
Premier League Darts began in January of 2005, televised live on Sky Sports. So popular has Premier League Darts become among both fans and darts tipsters, that it is now a weekly event through the months of February, March, April and May featuring ten of the most high profile players on the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) circuit. The weekly format makes Premier League Darts a very attractive event for those who enjoy darts betting and equally for those who like following expert darts tips. Matches are held at venues right across the UK and Ireland through the four months of the tournament with players competing in a double round-robin format.
Darts World Championship Betting
Although it may be confusing, there are two World Professional Darts Championships. The first is the PDC World Darts Championship that is organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. The second is the BDO World Darts Championship organised by the British Darts Organisation. The good news for darts tipsters and those who enjoy darts betting, the two tournaments only overlap slightly. The PDC World Darts Championship begins in December, with the BDO World Darts Championship beginning a month later in January. Players can choose which tournament they want to enter but are forbidden from entering both. This provides an extra element of intrigue for darts tipsters, with savvy punters identifying value darts betting opportunities via player to player matchup analysis.
