The second semi-finals of the Nations League competition pits Belgium versus France together. The two teams are not only the two best teams in football currently. But have one of the richest talent pools of players. The fact that makes this game so interesting is the rivalry between these nations that goes even beyond football and sports.
After both nations went through a disappointing Euro 2020, they will want to compensate with a League of Nations trophy. Les Bleus massively underperformed as Switzerland eliminated them in the Round 16 of the competition. Meanwhile, Belgium reached the quarterfinals of the Euros but was stopped dead in their tracks by future champions Italy.

Belgium vs France Recent Form
Belgium had a great European Championship right until they ran into Italy. After a 2:1 loss in the quarterfinals, they recuperated and continued with the World Cup qualifiers. It seems that the Italy loss was just a bump in the road as they got three wins in their next three games. One after the other, teams fell with Estonia (5:2), Czech Republic (3:0), and Belarus (1:0) all suffering defeats at the hands of les Diables Rouges.
On the other hand, France got back to their World Cup qualifiers a bit dazed. They dropped points and drew versus Bosnia and Herzegovina (1:1) and then did the same against Ukraine (1:1). They finally put three points on the table by winning against Finland (2:0).
Their recent form is enough to make Roberto Martinez’s men favourites and our League of Nations predictions seem to agree.
Belgium vs France Recent Matchups
The most recent matchup that France played against Belgium was, at the same time, one of the most important ones for French football. In the finale before the final, France defeated Belgium by 1:0 in the 2018 World Cup semi-finals. Samuel Umtiti scored the game’s only goal as France went on to win the World Cup title by defeating Croatia in the final game.
France actually played Belgium 74 times, but the Red Devils are the ones with a better score and 30 wins. Les Bleus won 25 matchups, while 19 ended in a draw.
Counting the matches played in the 2000s, the teams are neck and neck. Both France and Belgium have two wins with two games going to a draw.
Belgium vs France Stats & Analysis
This just might be the last opportunity for coach Roberto Martinez to bring Belgium a trophy. For quite a long, the Red Devils have been viewed as one of the most talented sides in football. However, most of the talent has been getting a bit long in the tooth or has suffered a lack of fitness.
They are still really dangerous and they are not letting down. But if they want to win a trophy they have to learn how to compete in the most important matches against dangerous opponents.
Didier Deschamps enters the game with a desire to add another trophy to his own and France’s trophy case. The loss against Switzerland may be seen as a minor mishap, but the qualifying games that followed showed that changes are needed.
The return of Karim Benzema to national football is definitely such a change. He did show great form at the Euros and continued in the same manner in the Real Madrid shirt. If he gets his team going, Thibaut Courtois is going to have to dig deep to keep his net intact.
Belgium vs France Betting Tips
France may be coming as slight favourites for this matchup at odds of 2.54. But a better form and the return of Kevin De Bruyne to the fold might just be enough for Belgium to win. Their odds to win are 3.25, which does look interesting.
But my idea is playing the draw at the half and a Belgium win at full time as it stands at feisty 7.00 odds as our League of Nations predictions would advise you to do.
