The Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers will begin a four-game series on Thursday that runs through the weekend, and the two teams are neck-and-neck in the AL Central Division table. Only four games separate the Guardians and Tigers, each chasing the Twins with only six weeks remaining in the regular season.
Thursday Night Bet Builder Odds: 3.65

Let’s start the Thursday night MLB Bet Builder with the expectation that the Tigers will escape with a win to open this four-game set between AL Central Division foes. The Guardians are four games behind the Twins for the top spot in the division entering Thursday’s MLB action, and the Tigers are four games behind Cleveland.
Tarik Skubal and Xzavion Curry are the probable starting pitchers for this first game of the series, and Curry has yet to pick up a win as a starting pitcher. Curry has made 30 appearances in 2023, but he has only made five starts this season, and his record is 0-1 with four no-decisions to his credit.
Cleveland is trying to work Curry into a starter’s role, but we all know that his pitch count will be limited on Thursday night. Terry Francona opened the door in his last start for the opportunity to stay on the mound for some length, but Tampa Bay wasn’t very accommodating. The Rays scored five runs against Curry, who threw 70 pitches in the outing, quickly the highest count of the campaign.
Now, we will see the effect of that start, and I think the Tigers’ offence will enjoy their night at the plate. Detroit has the Guardians in their sights, and a game one win to open this series will bring them within three games of Cleveland and a half-game closer to the Twins, who have the night off on Thursday.
While I expect Curry to struggle to stay on the mound for any quality length of time, Skubal has had three tough starts out of his last five outings. He tends to get hit hard, although the Guardians’ offence is complete rubbish.
Skubal only has seven starts under his belt this season, so he is still getting back into game form. He threw 93 pitches against the Red Sox in his last outing, and that is also his season-high output from those seven starts.
The only concern I have for this total to go over the number is the Cleveland offence not doing its part, but I think they can scratch out at least three runs in a 6-3 loss at home to open this important series.
I couldn’t find one trend to support the total to go over, which I have no issue with. Trends are always suspect to change on a given day, and despite a few facts that could point someone to a low-scoring game. Noted. Keep in mind that a 6-3 game is not exactly full of scoring; it will be just enough to help us cash a 3.65 Thursday MLB Bet Builder.
