The Giants have won three in a row after Alex Cobb’s near-no-hitter on Tuesday. Wednesday sees San Francisco send their ace Logan Webb to the mound against a Cincinnati Reds offence which has mustered a grand total of four runs over its previous four games.
While Webb has got very little run support this year, and the Giants offence has struggled over the last few months, there have been signs of life from San Francisco’s line up with 13 runs scored over their last four games.
Webb is a fringe Cy Young candidate, and sits second in innings pitched among all Major League arms. He’ll stay in this game long enough for San Francisco’s improving offence to give him a lead.

Seattle’s explosive offence has been grabbing the headlines amid their second-half surge, but they have also been backed up by some excellent pitching. One such arm is Bryce Miller, who has an 8-4 record and a 3.90 ERA on the season.
Miller is a control artist, ranking in the 91st percentile in walk rate. Oakland is a poor offence, placing 25th in OPS this month, and has already been shutdown by Miller twice this season. He’s pitched 12 innings for four hits and one earned run.
The 25-year-old right-hander has gone under this line in three of his last four starts. He’s allowed three or more earned runs just six times in 19 starts.

Jesus Luzardo got back on track last time out after a string of rough outings, but the Marlins are still underdogs at home against the Rays on Wednesday night. Miami has a 76 wRC+ over the last two weeks, and has lost nine of its last 12 to fall to .500.
Tampa Bay sends Zach Eflin and his 2.93 xERA to the mound. Eflin has been exceptional all year with the Rays going 17-8 in his starts. The Rays are also coming into this game on a hot streak, having won nine of their last 11, including an 11-2 drubbing of the Marlins on Tuesday.
Everything about this matchup points to a Rays win. Even if Luzardo puts in a strong start, the Marlins bullpen has been a weakness of late.
