Pittsburgh Pirates vs Cincinnati Reds Bet Builder Tips: Friday, August 11th

After the Pirates assisted us with a lovely win on Thursday against the Braves, Ej pushed out a 4.50 bet builder that we hope you all took advantage of. Back to the well on Friday night, Ej hopes the Pirates can remain confident as they head into a weekend series against the struggling Reds.

MLB Friday Night Bet Builder Odds: 2.80

Odds via Bet365 as of 8:00 am on August 11, 2023. Odds may now differ

PITTSBURGH PIRATES VS CINCINNATI REDS STATS AND FACTS

  • The Total Over is 5-0-1 in the Pirates’ last 6 home games vs a left-handed starter.
  • The Reds are 0-6 in their last 6 games after their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game.
  • The Pirates are 0-5 in Oviedo’s last 5 starts as a home underdog.

TEAMS BET BUILDER TIPS: STRUGGLING REDS VISIT THE STEEL CITY

PITTSBURGH PIRATES TEAM TOTAL OVER 4.5 RUNS

The Pittsburgh Pirates are playing as well as they have played since the beginning of the 2023 campaign, and they’ll get to host the struggling Cincinnati Reds for a three-game set that begins on Friday night in the Steel City.

Pittsburgh bashed out a 7-5 win over Atlanta on Thursday afternoon, and in turn, it helped the Buccs take two wins out of a three-game set against the AL East-leading Braves. These odds are not as nice as they were last night, but a 2.80 for these two things to happen from this game is still worth our time.

The Reds have lost 8 of their last nine games, and yet they are still only 2.5 games out of the top spot in their division. The Reds and Cubs are both chasing the Brewers at 2.5 games back in the NL Central Division race, and the Cincinnati Reds offense has been downright offensive lately, if you get my drift.

I mean that in a stinky way, and the lack of run production is the cause for the recent run of poor results for the Reds.

Outscored 564-592 for the campaign now, the month of August has been brutal to the Reds, and it all started with the 20-9 loss on August 1 to the Cubs. The Cubs earned three wins from a four-game set with the Reds, and then after being swept by the Nationals, the Reds just lost 2 of 3 games to the Marlins coming into this weekend’s series with the Pirates.

Andrew Abbott got starts against the Nationals and the Cubs over this recent stretch of games, and he got hit pretty hard in both of those outings. Abbot allowed six runs to the Nationals in his last start, and the five walks are a glaring concern for any team headed for the final month of the regular season.

If the line setters are only asking us to expect five runs to be scored by the Pirates to include in a bet builder, then I am not about to come close to arguing with them about it.

PITTSBURGH PIRATES MONEYLINE

Johan Oviedo has only allowed two earned runs over his last three starts, including outings against the Brewers, Tigers, and Padres. Abbott and Oviedo are listed as the probable starting pitchers for this game, and I am also shocked that the Moneyline offer from the oddsmakers shows plus money.

I see about 2.05 and 2.02 from about all of the major sportsbooks out there, and Bet365 is showing 2.02 as I submit this piece. The only plan I had for you all to end the week was to dish out any kind of winner after cashing last night’s bet builder, so the Pirates Moneyline combined with their team total seems fair to me.

I expect the Reds to continue to struggle until they prove they can snap out of it, and baseball just has its way of creating good and bad runs for every team at times. Knowing how to limit the bad runs of results is something the Reds are not achieving at the moment, so I expect a 6 – 4 Buccs win at home to open this series on Friday night.

The Pirates Moneyline and the Over 4.5 Team Total clicks as the Friday Night MLB Bet Builder!

You see the final trend I posted about above about the Pirates not seeming to play well for Oviedo when the team is listed as underdogs. Pittsburgh has lost his last five starts when he has plus money action attached to his action, but that trend may come to an end tonight.
