With the third game of their WNBA semi-final series being played on Friday night, it’s a good time to put together our Connecticut Sun vs New York Liberty Bet Builder tips. The series is split at one win apiece ahead of Friday’s contest at the Mohegan Sun Arena, which tips off at half-past midnight UK time.
Winners of all four regular-season matchups, the Liberty endured an uncharacteristically poor shooting night in the first game before bouncing back to win Game Two. The road team are four-point favourites here.

New York covered this line in the second game of the series, bouncing back from their Game One offensive struggles. All four regular-season wins were by more than five points, and the Liberty should be able to cover this line.
Connecticut’s 4-1 record against the spread in the postseason is something for bettors to be wary of, and yes, their defence has troubled the Liberty in the first two games. There was a meaningful gap between these teams throughout the regular season, though, and that’s what makes the Liberty worth backing against the spread.
New York have no issues winning on the road – they went 12-1 over their last 13 regular season away games.
It’s been a rough semi-final for Breanna Stewart thus far. Scoring 30 points over two games isn’t exactly disastrous, but taking 38 shots to do so has certainly made life more difficult for the Liberty.
With those stats in mind, the 21.5 total points line seems too high here. Stewart has gone under this number in four of her last five outings, and the Connecticut defence isn’t going to ease up, even if we’re backing the Liberty to take a series lead.
Despite expecting the Liberty to win the game, Alyssa Thomas’ assists over is too good to turn down. Thomas has excelled this Playoffs, posting a 43.1% assist rate and clearing this line in four of her five games thus far. Courtney Vandersloot was the only player to average more dimes in the regular season.
Thomas has played 40 minutes in four consecutive games, and will be set for a high workload again here with the Sun desperately needing her playmaking if they are to keep pace with the Liberty.
